Adrien Swenson (Daisy Hilton) Adrien is delighted to be playing another dream role, especially opposite her dear friend and two-time acting double. Adrien recently played Judy Bernly in Hale Centre Theatre’s production of 9 to 5: the Musical and has performed in many other productions throughout the state as well as several radio commercials and some film work. Credits include Madame Defarge in A Tale of Two Cities (HCT), Nancy in Oliver! (the Grand), Sarah in The Civil War (HCT), Emma in Jekyll & Hyde (RMT), Martha in The Secret Garden (HCT), Mary Magdalene in Savior of the World (LDS Conference Center), Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress (SUU), and many others. Adrien received her degree in Theater Arts with an emphasis in Acting and Directing from Southern Utah University and works by day as a marketing administrator for a wellness company. “Thanks to my family, friends, boss and teachers, and a very special thanks to Angela for taking this journey with me&emdash;there’s no one I would rather do this with!”
Angela Jeffries (Violet Hilton) Angela is so happy to be a part of Side Show (and to be literally attached at the hip with one of her dearest friends, too!). Born and raised in Texas, Angela began singing at a very young age. She has performed in over 35 plays and musicals at various theatres in Utah, Texas, Idaho, and Wyoming. In 2011, she graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Acting and Directing. Some of Angela’s favorite roles include Judy Bernly in 9 to 5, Madame Defarge in A Tale of Two Cities, Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Annie in Annie Get Your Gun, the Witch in Into the Woods, the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Trix in The Drowsy Chaperone. Angela has also originated two roles in two new musicals (Sleepy Hollow and Five Carols for Christmas). In 2010, she was honored with the opportunity to perform a debut solo number from Sleepy Hollow at the Kennedy Center of Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
Taylor Eliason (Buddy Foster) Taylor is so excited for this unique opportunity to perform the beauiful music and story of the Hilton sisters. Taylor has been performing since he was little. He’s been fortunate in his life to have the privilege of performing in an array of different shows all over the world with some of the most amazing individuals and talents this business has to offer. Some of his favorite credits include Ltn. Cable (South Pacific), Robert (The Drowsy Chaperone), Zangler (Crazy for You), Ren (Footloose), and Joseph (Savior of the World), and he served for two years as a Young Ambassador for Brigham Young University. Aleksndr Arteaga (Terry Connor) Aleksndr reigns from San Antonio, Texas and is elated to be a part of the first Utah Musical Theatre Production. Roles include: Jekyll & Hyde (Archibald Proops), Rent (Tom Collins), Songs for a New World (Man 1), Bye Bye Birdie (Conrad Birdie), Hairspray (Edna Turnblad), Honk! (The Cat and The Bullfrog), Fiddler On the Roof (Lazar Wolf), High School Musical 2 (Jack Scott), Seussical (Mr. Mayor), Hello Dolly, Beauty and the Beast, and Oklahoma! (Cord Elam). Cooper Howell (Jake) Cooper is originally from Santa Monica, California. He is a junior in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Musical Theater program at the University of Utah. He also was a student at Utah Valley University in its Acting Department for two and one-half years. Cooper has danced in one form or another all of his life and is a major passion of his, next to his love for singing and music and acting. He has been trained in hip-hop, jazz, ballet, and modern dance. As an actor, he has recently been seen in the regional premiere of In the Heights at Pioneer Theatre Company as a member of the ensemble. Some of his theater credits include Coalhouse Walker Jr. in Ragtime, Malcolm X in The Meeting, Jim Conley in Parade, Michael Cassio in Othello, Gregory Lunn in Overruled, the lead Wickersham Brother in Seusical, Little Harp in The Robber Bridegroom, and many others. This past summer he completed a directing internship with Jerry Rapier of Plan-B Theater Company as Assistant Director and Choreographer of Hedwig and the Angry Itch at the Egyptian Theatre. He will next be seen in the lead role of Hänschen in the University of Utah production of Spring Awakening, directed by Denny Berry.
Celene Anderson (Harem Girl) Celene is a junior at Cottonwood High School and has a deep love and passion for theater. Celene could last be seen as Cecco in Cottonwood’s Peter Pan and Zazu in the Broadway revue A Very Disney Musical. This past summer Celene attended BYU’s theater workshop. Other roles she has had include Ms. Teavee in Willy Wonka, Katrina Van Tassel in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Cila in The Jungle Book, and Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka. She had the opportunity to narrate a fundraising video for South Davis Community Hospital, her favorite project she’s ever been involved in. Celene loves stage combat and is dying to get into a show that utilizes it. She also plays the French horn in Cottonwood’s Wind Ensemble and is learning how to dance as fast as she can. Her ambition is to continue in theater throughout her life (at least on the side) and will be auditioning for BYU’s Music Dance Theater program next year.
Serena Kanig Benish (Dolly Dimples) Serena succumbed to the lure of the stage while singing the only solos in the Kanab Elementary production of The Mother Goose Tales. Later she followed her muse to the College-Conservatory of Music, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance, and then on to New York City where she studied with John Bullock (father of Sandra Bullock) and performed with orchestras, in recitals and in oratorios as a soprano soloist. She sang the role of Olga von Sturm in the New Jersey premiere of Nine and Marcello in Scarlatti’s opera Eraclea. She graduated from SUNY Purchase with an Master’s of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance and continued her performing until she moved back to her native Utah with her family. She continues to perform, notably with the Park City Chamber Music Festival and in venues around Utah. She is an adjunct instructor of voice at Utah Valley University.
Chelsea Benjamin (Contortionist) Chelsea is currently a Theater Performance major at Utah Valley University. Having started in theater at 5 years old, she has spent much of her time involved in the world of theater and music. Some of her favorite roles she has portrayed have been Tuptim in The King and I and Hodel in The Fiddler on the Roof. She has also worked backstage in plays such as Noises Off and most recently Androcles and the Lion. Chelsea would like to thank her boyfriend for all his support while she has been living away from home, and she hopes you will enjoy the show as much as she has.
Bryan Cardoza (The Boss) Bryan is a relative newcomer to the stage, despite the fact that he is more than twice the age of most cast members. This will be his fourth production, having previously played Elton in The Scarlet Pimpernel, as an ensemble member playing the Hoxton Man, Bartender and one of the servants’ chorus in My Fair Lady and as Mr. DePinna in You Can’t Take it With You. Bryan is thrilled to be involved with such a talented cast and crew, and is especially grateful for an understanding wife and children who support him in his later-in-life artistic endeavors. “I don’t know anyone else who would hand-tailor a coat for me.”
Clayton Cranford (Geek) Clayton is from Billings, Montana and a sophomore at Brigham Young University studying Acting and receiving a Spanish certificate. He is so thankful for his family and friends for supporting him 100 percent in everything he does. Clayton gives a little shout out to his roommate John for always being willing to help him memorize lines. He was recently in a Brigham Young University Mask Club production of The Rented Christmas and last spring was in the musical Footloose, which really inspired him to audition for other musicals. In March, Clayton will start rehearsing for the BYU production of A Wrinkle in Time. He’s grateful for the musical Side Show, because it has really helped him become a diversified actor. “I mean, who gets the chance to have the role as a crazy, chicken blood-drinking person?” Thank you, Johnny, and the production team for making this experience amazing!
Amanda Crawley (Bearded Lady) Amanda is 18 years old and is from Chandler, Arizona. She is currently a freshman at Brigham Young and hopes to be admitted into BYU’s Music Dance Theatre program this upcoming March. Her favorite roles have been Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors, Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, Mrs. Potts in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Marty in Grease, as well as Cecily Cardew in The Importance of Being Earnest and Helena in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This is her first show at the Echo Theatre and she’s having a blast! Besides theatre, she enjoys spending time with friends and staying out of the cold at all costs! She would like to thank Johnny Hebda for directing this amazing show and Cooper Howell for his excellent choreography and patience with our cast!
Natali Dilts (Midget) Natali is a passionate young girl, who at the age of 12, enjoys many thing such as biking, sewing, horseback riding, hiking, writing, cooking, and acting. This is her second musical, she has been in one play. She hopes to move forward with her acting career.
Julianne Francisco (Harem Girl) Julianne is from Riverside, California, and is currently a freshman at Brigham Young University. She participated in theater productions all through high school. Some of her favorite roles to play were Lady Larken in Once Upon a Mattress, the Beggar Woman/Lucy Barker in Sweeney Todd, and Phoebe Pyncheon in The House of the Seven Gables. In addition to acting onstage, she was light/sound crew chief at her high school and designed the lights for many productions. She is very excited to have been given the opportunity to be in the Utah premiere of Side Show with so many talented performers!
Becca Gunyan (Demented Clown) Rebecca has a love of acting that started in junior high. She always feels happiest when she is on the stage. She believes that theater has the ability to transform people’s lives by removing them from their every day cares and transporting them to a new place. Whether it is the streets of London, a fairy forest, or backstage of a crazy play, she does her best to bring joy to the audience. Previous roles have included Maid 2 in My Fair Lady, Gretchen in Backstage, and the Spriggan Leader in The 13 Bells of Boglewood.
Corena Gunyan (Harem Girl) Corena got a taste of theater as a little kid being in a play with her mom, but didn’t really start acting until two years ago when she was in Fiddler on the Roof. She has performed in The Impossible Mystery, My Fair Lady, and Annie Get Your Gun since. Corena loves singing and dancing and just being on stage in general. She is looking forward to acting more in the future.
Brandon Hansen (Reptile Man) Brandon is from Mesa, Arizona, and moved to Provo this year to attend Brigham Young and study Music Dance Theater. He has a great love for all three of these areas of the arts, but he also has an extensive background in gymnastics. Brandon’s recent credits include Bernardo in West Side Story and Javert in Les Miserables with Arizona Youth Theater and Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods with Red Mountain High School.
Kevan Mills (Strong Man) Kevan is returning to theater after 16 years. He was recently in a theater production in Spanish Fork and rekindled his love of the theater. He is an actor and model and is passionate about the arts. He has loved theater since he was young. He has performed in road shows, theater, and choir among other things. In his spare time, Kevan can be found spending time with his three children, playing the guitar, or singing.
Caden Mustoe (Sheikh) Caden has been doing theater since he was a Goblet in Beauty and the Beast at the age of 6 and has been in 18 plays since. His favorite role to date is Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. He has been in several plays with both his parents and is enjoying being in Side Show with his mom. When not acting, Caden is busy with school, focusing on band. He’s the drum major in training at Maple Mountain High School.
Jennifer Mustoe (Four-Legged Woman) Jennifer has been doing shows almost nonstop for about 18 months, most recently in An Ideal Husband, My Fair Lady, and A Roof Overhead. She’s thrilled to be in Side Show and able to do another show with her marvelously talented son, Caden. She comes by her love of circuses honestly. She is the daughter of Bozo the Clown. Thank you to an amazing cast, a remarkable production team for this opportunity and to Craig for his patience and support. Mwah.
Ashley Ramsey (Fakir) Ashley began her acting career in San Diego and will be completing her Bachelors in Theatrical Arts at Utah Valley University in April. She was previously seen as Ms. Krumholtz (How to Succeed in Business…) Salome (The Robber Bridegroom), and Jean (Tons of Money) She recently had her first performance as a circus aerial artist this summer and looks forward to more performance opportunities with that. She is grateful for her sweet husband Chad and the rest of her family for their love and support.
Amber Lee Roberts (Giant-Footed Woman) Amber is excited to return to the stage after three years of focusing on her career in massage therapy. She has enjoyed being in many shows with experience of different roles, including Amneris in Aida, Rapunzel in Into the Woods, Babette in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Ensemble in The Scarlet Pimpernel at Hale Centre Theatre West Valley. She also received her Associate degree in Musical Dance Theater from Western Wyoming College and was a 2008 young performing missionary in Nauvoo. “A big thank you for all of the love and support from family and friends!”
Mary Beth Summerhalder (Elephant Woman) Mary Beth is 16 years old and a junior at Timpview High in Provo. She is currently serving as Miss Amazing Junior Teen queen for the state of Utah. Mary Beth loves to sing and dance, and she made her stage debut in the ensemble of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Payson Community Theater in 2010. She is thrilled to be a part of Side Show and to be sharing the stage with her big sister, Rachel. “Thank you for coming!”
Rachel Summerhalder (Armless Girl) Rachel is thrilled to be part of such an amazing show. She has appeared onstage in a few shows, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Payson Community Theater), Hairspray, and most recently in My Fair Lady (SFCT). This show has challenged and stretched her in ways she never imagined (she will never take her arms for granted again!) and she is so grateful for the experience. Rachel would like to thank her fabulous children for letting her pursue her passion and not complaining about eating dinner at 10 p.m.! “Love you guys!”
Tyrone Svedin (Wolf Man) Tyrone was born and raised in Utah County. He has enjoyed theater since he was a child; Tyrone began taking acting lessons when he was 12. He has been in shows such as: A Christmas Carol, See How They Run, The Importance of Being Ernest, and Curses Foiled Again. Tyrone has played the piano since he was seven and has been in choirs since junior high. He enjoys being on stage and sharing his talents with others.
Madeline Weinberger (Fortune Teller) Madeline has always had a passion for the arts, beginning her career as a member of an improv troupe at the age of nine. She’s relished in performing throughout her academic career in high school, SUU, and BYU as well as with the Covey Center for the Performing arts, the Rose Wagner, and the Brinton Black Box Theatre. A few of her favorite roles have been Kitty Clive in Joyful Noise, Sabine in The Three Musketeers, Nora in Brighton Beach Memoirs, and Edie in the original production of Cheat. Madeline has also appeared in Hale Center Theatre’s Father of the Bride as Kay Banks, and most recently 9 to 5 The Musical as Doralee Rhodes. When not in pursuit of her ambitions, Madeline enjoys reading, foreign films, cooking, and making Statham giggle. From slapstick comedy to historical drama, Madeline is incredibly grateful to have had such fortuity to perform as much as she has.
