“Bare” Cast

PAUL CALVO (Timothy) Paul is proud to make his Utah Rep premiere in “Bare.” He is a senior at Weber High School. His past roles include Jack in “Into the Woods,” Ryan Evans in “High School Musical,” Chino in “West Side Story,” and a Whickersham Brother in “Seussical.” He’d like to thank his family and friends for all their support and hopes to continue to thrive in his passion for the theater.

ARICA CARPENTER (Tanya/Cherub) Arica is ecstatic to be working with Utah Rep for the first time. Currently enrolled at Weber State University, she is pursuing a degree in theater and psychology. “Bare” has been a fun and amazing experience, and she feels blessed and honored to be a part of it. She hopes the audience enjoys it as much as she has.

ALEXIS CARRILLO (Natalie) Alexis is very happy to be a part of “Bare,” her very first show. She believes “Bare” has a powerful message and hopes Utah is ready for “Bare.”

SKIGH COPIER (Tiara) Skigh is incredibly excited to perform in her first semi-professional show, especially as the youngest cast member. She is currently a freshman at Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts where she studies theater, musical theater, and dance. A few of her favorite past roles include the White Queen in “Alice in Wonderland,” Queen Elinor in “Brave,” Nana the Nursemaid Dog in “Peter Pan,” and a Corny Kid in “Hairspray.” After being in numerous children’s productions for eight years, she couldn’t be more anxious to be in such a mature show. Being around the same age as the characters, she relates greatly to the trials and tribulations seen in “Bare.” She hopes that the story of Peter and Jason will open up people’s minds and that it will relate to audiences all around Utah.

TORI COTT (Amber) Tori is currently a sophomore in the Musical Theatre Program at the U of U. She is originally from New York, and this is her first musical in Salt Lake City and Tori couldn’t be more excited to be working with such a talented cast! Recently she played Pearl Payne in “These Shining Lives.” Other favorite shows include “Footloose” (Rusty), “Jesus Christ Superstar” (Mary Magdalene), and “Our Town” (Mrs. Webb).

CAROLYN CROW (Kyra/Cherub) Carolyn is thrilled to be apart of such a powerful show and message. Her stage credits include “Spring Awakening” (Martha), “Rent” (Joanne Jefferson), “In the Heights” (Daniela), “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” (Lucy Van Pelt), “Ragtime,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” “Working,” and “Inherit the Wind.” Carolyn is also a speech-language pathologist for Jordan School District with the Early Intervention program. “Love you, Matt!”

BROCK DALGLEISH (Jason) Brock has previously been seen in Hale Centre Theatre’s productions of “Catch Me If You Can,” “Mary Poppins,” “Tarzan,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” and “9 to 5: The Musical.” A couple of Brock’s favorite roles include Moritz in “Spring Awakening,” Ren in “Footloose,” and Henry in “Next to Normal.” Brock performed for Walt Disney World as a dancer in the Festival of the Lion King and Disney Channel Rocks. He also toured Europe with “Disney Live!” as the Dance Captain and Male Swing. “I am excited to portray this dream role in this dream of a show! Jason and Peter’s story hits home to me and to so many people in this state. Utah is ready for ‘Bare,’ and I’m so grateful for this opportunity to tell the story! ‘Our love was pure and nothing else brought me closer to God.’”

MASON DUNCAN II (Aiden) Mason is a sophomore at Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts, where he is enrolled in the Music track. Theater is one of his passions, and “Bare” is his second musical, after performing as Lumiere in “Beauty and the Beast.” Working with the cast and crew of “Bare” has been an incredible and exciting opportunity for Mason. He would like to thank all the wonderful people he has had the chance to work and come into contact with throughout this musical’s process. Mason would like to especially thank his family and the director.

KATIE EVANS (Nadia/Props Designer) Katie is beyond thrilled to be making her debut with Utah Rep in the role of Nadia McConnell. She feels strongly about the social issues touched upon in this musical, and she hopes that this performance can provide some awareness, understanding, and empathy to those people who may be silently struggling. Most recently, Katie has been seen at the Off-Broadway Theatre in Salt Lake and CenterPoint Legacy Theatre in Centerville. She would like to thank Johnny and the entire production team for taking a chance on her; Missy, for pushing her to audition; and, as always, Zach, for “letting her play” and being her No. 1 fan.

AARON GORDON (Lucas, u/s Jason) Aaron is grateful to be a part of this powerful show and amazing cast. “Bare” is his first show with Utah Rep. Past roles include Brad in “The Rocky Horror Show,” Enjolras in “Les Misérables,” Beast in “Beauty and the Beast,” and Kenickie in “Grease.” He would like to thank his family and friends, old and new, for all of their support. “A special shout out to Jenny, Sarah, Danielle, and Mindy!”

YOAH GUERRERO (Sister Chantelle) Yoah was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and moved to the United States at 12 years old. She has been featured as a singer at Fox 13 news for winning 2010 Priddis Music Best Female Vocalist in Utah. This opened the opportunity for her to be featured as a singer in 2011 on ABC’s “Karaoke Battle USA.” And most recently in 2013, she was featured as a vocalist “Contacto Directo” on Azteca TV. “Bare” is the fourth musical she’s been involved, and her premiere Utah Rep performance was in “Bonnie & Clyde,” playing the role of Stella/Choir Leader. Yoah resides in Utah with her husband and three children.

THOMAS KULKUS (Matt) Thomas is thrilled to be a part of this production of “Bare” as it has been on his bucket list for years. Some past credits include Georg in “Spring Awakening”; Cat in the Hat in “Seussical”; and most recently, Willard in “Footloose.” To all of those that have supported Thomas throughout the years, this show is for you: “Thank you for helping me find my voice.”

BRADY LINDSEY (Alan) “Bare” is Brady’s first show with Utah Rep, and he could not be more excited to be apart of such a wonderful cast and crew. This is his 13th show collectively. “Bare” has a very special place in his heart, and he can not wait to share the story and message with you!

MICKI MARTINEZ (Paris, u/s Diane) Micki is a junior in the Musical Theatre Department at the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts. Some of her most recent productions are “Legally Blonde,” “Pippin,” “The Mikado,” “Footloose,” and “Eurydice.” Some of her favorite roles include Alice in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and Crystal in “The Little Shop of Horrors.” Micki is thrilled to be performing in her first show with Utah Rep, and is honored to help bring such a moving story to Salt Lake.

JONATHAN SCOTT McBRIDE (Priest) “Bare” is Jonathan’s second Utah Rep production, after performing in the company’s state premiere of “[title of show].” He has been seen on stage throughout Salt Lake City, Park City, and Logan, working at the Egyptian Theatre, Old Lyric Repertory Company, Hale Centre Theatre, Pinnacle Acting Company, Dark Horse Company Theatre, Plan-B Theatre Company, Pygmalion Theatre Company. Favorite roles include The Baker in “Into the Woods,” Michael in “Dancing at Lughnasa,” Phantom in “Phantom,” and Jeff in “[title of show].”

MANDY McDONELL (Kendra/Cherub) Mandy moved to Salt Lake City from San Jose, California, last year. She is currently a sophomore in the University of Utah’s Musical Theatre program. Some of her favorite past roles include Cinderella in “Into the Woods,” Featured Dancer in “In the Heights,” and Margot in “Legally Blonde: the Musical” “Much love to my family for their continued support!”

JENNIFER McKAY (Diane, u/s Ivy) Jenni is delighted to be in her first production with Utah Rep. Her love for the theater started at a young age where she played in various shows, such as “The Little Mermaid” and “The Snow Queen” at the Academy of Performing Arts. She continued with theater throughout school, playing the role of Ermengarde in Brighton High School’s production of “Hello Dolly!” Her most recent role was Delilah in “Samson the Rock Musical.” She has also appeared in several small film roles. Jenni would like to give a big thanks to her vocal coach, Dean Kaelin, for all of his help and support and a thanks to family and friends for their love and encouragement. When not performing, Jenni’s second passion is filming movies, particularly parody horror films, with friends. “Whether it’s on stage, paper or film, I am my happiest when I am creating.”

JOHN PATRICK McKENNA (Peter) John is honored to be performing again after a six-year hiatus—especially in a role and show that has inspired many of his own creative projects over the last decade. John has been active in musical theater most of his life. As a teenager, he starred in productions of “West Side Story” and “Footloose,” performed a summer in Rock U 2 the Top at Lagoon, and served a four-month performing mission in Nauvoo, Illinois for the LDS Church. John attended Brigham Young University as a Music Dance Theatre major, ultimately graduating in Music Production where he focused on vocal performance, songwriting, and MIDI sequencing. Following a musical tour of Scandinavia with the BYU Young Ambassadors in 2009, John took a break from performing. “Bare” has been a cathartic experience for him—not only as an opportunity to share a piece of his own personal story, but as an opportunity to revisit an art form that has impacted his life so positively.

SHALEE MORTENSEN SCHMIDT (Claire) Shalee is an Adjunct Vocal Instructor for the U of U Theatre Department. She was most recently seen as Frances in People Production’s “These Shining Lives.” Other theater credits include Queen Aggravain in “Once Upon a Mattress” (Salt Lake Shakespeare), Mrs. Cratchit in “A Christmas Carol: The Musical” (Pioneer Theatre Company), Mother Superior in “The Sound of Music” (Sundance), Chaperone in “The Drowsy Chaperone” (Centerpointe Theatre), Betty in “The Great American Trailer Park,” Velma in the western regional premiere of “Hairspray,” Clairee in “Steel Magnolias,” Dolly in “Hello, Dolly!,” and Dominique in “Lucky Stiff.” Opera credits Duchess in “The Gondoliers” and Papagena in “The Magic Flute.” Shalee earned a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and maintains a private voice studio, Gottasing.com.

SOFIE OLDROYD (Jessica) Sofie is very excited to be participating in “Bare.” Some of her favorite roles include Adelaide in “Guys and Dolls,” Ermengarde in “Hello, Dolly!” and a dance core member in “West Side Story,” “Footloose,” and “Anything Goes.” She hopes to major in Musical Theatre in college and also to choreograph musicals in the future. Sofie would like to thank her parents and friends for being so supportive of her passion.

EMILIE STARR (Ivy) “Bare” is Emilie’s second role in a Utah Rep production, after playing Sara in the company’s state premiere production of “Grace,” a role that earned her a City Weekly Arty Award. Emilie is one of many starving actresses in Utah. She has performed in two productions of Salt Lake Acting Company’s “Saturday’s Voyeur” and toured Utah schools with Intermountain Health Care’s Live Well tour. Some of her favorite roles include Alice in “Closer” at Rose Wagner Theatre with Wasatch Theatre, Diana in “Next to Normal” at The Ziegfeld Theatre in Ogden, and Cavale in “Cowboy Mouth” at Good Company Theatre in Ogden. She would like to thank her mother and sister, Jennie, for always coming to support her passion. Emilie would also like to that her friends, Eric and Tracy, for being her entourage and for always making her feel super cool.

JARED JOHN TUCKETT (Zach) Jared is ecstatic to be immersed in the world of theater once more by being part of “Bare.” After being absent from the stage for three years, he is back and ready to continue what he loves more than anything in the world. He will be attending the University of Utah studying musical theater. Some of his favorite credits include Fender in “Hairspray,” Lumiere in “Beauty and the Beast,” and Monsenior Firmen in “The Phantom of the Opera.” “I am so excited to bring the message of ‘Bare’ to Utah, as it is very personal to me, and to many others. Hope you enjoy the show!”

BAILEY WALKER (Rory) Bailey is a sophomore in the Musical Theatre Program at the University of Utah. She is so excited to join the cast of “Bare”! Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, her credits include “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (Female Understudy) at Salt Lake Shakespeare, “Hairspray” (Penny), “Macbeth” (Banquo), and “Seussical the Musical” (Jojo). She would like to thank her family and friends for their undying support as she pursues a degree in the fine arts.

SARAH WALKER (Becky/Cherub) Sarah is a sophomore in the Musical Theatre Program at the University of Utah. She is originally from Kinston, North Carolina, where she played some of her favorite roles that included Alice in “Alice in Wonderland” and a Hot Box Girl in “Guys and Dolls.” She danced in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s Christmas Concert and is very excited for “Bare” to be her first musical in Utah. Much love to her family and for the endless support from friends and teachers!
